Proffesional Photo Essay Critique

1. What kind of photo essay is this?
This photo essay is a first person essay

2. How many photos are included?
The essay contains 41 photos.

3. How long is it?
It's 3 minutes and 6 seconds.

4. What kind of impact does it have on you (main message) and how is this achieved?
It's very depressing. There are photos of kids crying and they're all so young and already throwing their lives away. This is achieved with the photos taken and the inmates interviewed and telling their own stories.

Electronic Photo Essay Previews

My favorite photo essay for Introspective and a narrated document was Anna's Day. It talks about the pictures as they appear on the screen and it tells a true story about the photographers life. My favorite photo essay for first person documentary was I Love Soccor, the little boy, the subject of the video was talking and telling his story.

Architectural Shots

This is an example of surroundings. The sky is gray which makes the bright brick and paint of the school stand out but the gray gives an ominous look to the school which i feel is completely appropriate since this school is ridiculous and the last place i want to be.

Architectural Shots

This is an example of angles and shapes. The ceiling and the stairs make interesting geometric shapes and angles with the rafters and the bars on the stairs.

Architectural Shots

This is an example of patterns. The windows on the side of the building make nice patterns to look at aswell as the bricks above it. The lighter bricks are repeated in lines only so often which looks nice.

Architectural Shots

This is an example of detail. I thought this looked like a face. The big windows look like eyes, the poster is the nose and the lights are teeth. I thought it looked cool.

Architctural Shots

This photo would be an example of light because it the light reflecting off the tile gives a nice glow and atmosphere to the room. It also makes everything look one color in this hallway which looks interesting.
